Derbyshire Firms Team Up to Train Up Future Business Leaders
Clinigen Group and CW Sellors join forces with Mitre to boost county’s leadership skills
Some of Derbyshire’s best-known businesses have teamed up with Milford-based Mitre Group to train future business leaders within their workforce.
Burton’s Clinigen Group, the global pharmaceutical and services company, and renowned family-jewellers CW Sellors have worked closely with the Derbyshire-based training company to develop tailored programmes for employees, aimed at developing their managerial and leadership skills.
“Investing in staff is central to our growth strategy at Clinigen. The benefits of team members taking part in programmes like the Operational Management scheme are significant,’ comments Amanda Hiatt from Clinigen Group.
“Mitre has assisted us in taking advantage of the Government’s Apprenticeship Levy to support training and help achieve our specific business goals.”
A team of 18 from CW Sellors is also tackling an accredited Team Leading Diploma, under the tuition of Mitre’s experienced trainers. The year-long programme, which has been tailored to respond to the unique needs of the jeweller, will give the students an understanding of different leadership techniques, resource management, relationship building, motivational working and decision making.
Founder, Chris Sellors, comments:
“Supporting our workforce and the future leaders within our business is very important to us. We value our team members and helping them to grow and develop in turn helps the company to keep evolving and going from strength-to-strength. The team at Mitre knows our business well and so it’s been great to work with them to construct a programme that is built around what we need.”
Established in 1992, Mitre has a long history of working in partnership with businesses throughout Derbyshire and delivering management and leadership training. To date, the firm has supported over 4,000 organisations and 20,000 individuals many of whom are based in the county.
Jennie Bowmer, managing director at Mitre Group, comments:
“Working with other Derbyshire firms is such an important part of our business, be they large international corporates like Clinigen or entrepreneurial family-firms like CW Sellors.
“Identifying and supporting future leaders is vital to help companies grow and thrive. It helps with staff retention, innovation and reputation, as well as boosting the bottom line. There are so many ways to invest in staff and we are committed to helping local companies make the most of funding available for training.”
