From education to employment

Details of Marketing Conference for HE and FE Professionals Released

The inaugural Higher Education Marketing Conference for FE and HE marketing professionals is to be held at the Holiday Inn, Bloomsbury, London on 22nd September 2005.

“This event has been created to confront the burning commercial issues arising in this era of increasing fees and widening participation”, organisers Marketing Week Conferences told FE News.

A Media Partnership

The one-day event will feature talks from a number of experienced HE professionals and business figures. Speakers confirmed include: Stewart Redpath, Group Brand Strategy Manager, Lloyds TSB; Martin Holmes, Director of Marketing, University of Leeds; and Jane Chafer, Director of Marketing, University of Sheffield. FE News has signed a deal with Marketing Week Conferences making us Media Partners at the event.

Some of the talks will focus on difficult subjects, such as how to persuade teaching staff to “live the brand” and remain on message, and the need to treat students as “customers” and “learners” simultaneously. The conference aims to help managers spread the marketing message within their institutions and to maximise its impact externally. “In both FE and HE there is a definite shift in student demographics, making it increasingly important to target and reach those corners of the market that you might previously have missed” say the organisers.
