Brewpoint success for Bedford College students
Following a collaboration with Bedford College, one student is to see her work used as part of the new Brewpoint visitor centre.
Work is underway on the new brewhouse and visitors centre near the A6 Sainsbury’s / Aldi sites, and it will be an exciting new asset for Bedford – combining the heritage of the Wells & Co. family business founded in 1876 with the latest in modern leisure activities.
Carli Hall, aged 37 from St Neots, is to see her creative ideas expanded to be used as the brand of the new centre.
Said Peter Wells, Commercial Director, Wells & Co:
“The work submitted by Bedford College students was outstanding and we want to do more community collaborations as we go forward.”
The brewery development will have capacity to produce up to 5.5 million pints a year serving the Wells & Co. 197 pub-estate across the UK and France. The site will also house fantastic facilities for the community, including a visitor centre offering tours of the brewery, a bar, coffee roastery and restaurant that can be hired out for events and conferences, as well as a retail space stocked full of exclusive beers brewed on-site.
Carli thought she had missed the chance to pursue her creative calling when at 18, life got in the way and she needed to find a job to support herself instead of studying art. Carli made a success of her career in electronic supplies and logistics rising to Head of Supply Chain for an international company.
“I started on an HNC then stayed for another year to do my HND then for a third to do my full Graphic Communications BA at Bedford College.Jeffrey Tribe and the team have all been fantastic. Before I met them I thought following my dream was impossible but with their support I have done it.
“The industry links here at the college are so good – you get to meet all sorts of people and undertake all sorts of project work.”
Another course member Chloe Miller, aged 22, has gained a work experience placement with Wells & Co. as a result of the collaboration.
