Godiva and Coventry College partnership praised after youngsters assist at festival

Students from Coventry College were given a chance to work at Godiva festival after a unique partnership was struck.

The college’s Catering, Media and Photography departments were represented at the festival by students eager to showcase their talents and get some unique work experience under their belts at one of the biggest events of the year.

While the likes of Feeder, Busted and Dodgy kept the crowds entertained the Coventry College team served up delicious food, handled any guest queries and captured a selection of photos and videos to mark the festival.

Martin Haynes, Head of Marketing at Coventry College, said: “This partnership is all about highlighting what young people in Coventry are capable of and we are proud that our students were able to make that happen.

“They certainly worked very hard but they really enjoyed it and gained some valuable experience about working at a huge event.

“I think it is great for the city to see our young people being so active and participating in one of the biggest events of the year.

“As a college we would like to thank everyone behind Godiva for creating this partnership and we would also like to congratulate our students on a job well done.”

Organised by Coventry City Council with the support of partners, Godiva Festival prides itself on offering the best of Coventry and Warwickshire backed up by top national artists and performers.

Councillor Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for Events, said: “Yet again Godiva Festival has delivered an amazing weekend for the city.

“I was incredibly pleased to have this partnership in place to showcase the fantastic young talent that the city has.

“The students should all be very proud of the hard work and dedication that they showed over the weekend. These young people are not just a credit to themselves, but to our city”.
