GROW into Hospitality: Kick start a career in hospitality with SERC
South Eastern Regional College (SERC) are calling for participants for an innovative new 3-week programme which offers the opportunity to sample the hospitality industry, gain qualifications, work experience and a guaranteed interview for a job in the sector.
Siobhan Compton, Training Consultant for Catering and Hospitality at SERC said, “GROW into Hospitality, will be of interest to anyone wanting a new challenge or a career change to the hospitality industry. It is open to anyone who wants to get their foot in the door for a career in hospitality. In three weeks’ you could have two qualifications, two weeks work experience and the offer of a job.
She continued, “The programme, offered at the College’s Bangor Campus, commences with a taster and selection day on Thursday 1 August when participants will receive an introduction to the course and attend a short interview to deem suitability. From Monday 5 to Friday 9 August, selected participants will follow a full programme of practical skills training from 10am to 4pm each day. This will cover food, bar, barista and table service skills. From 12 to 14 August, participants will gain two Level 2 qualification in Customer Service and Food Safety and Hygiene – a must for anyone wishing to work in the sector – and prepare for a two-week work placement, with bespoke careers guidance, which will run from 15 August until 27 August. Any benefits participants receive will not be affected as the placement is unpaid. Participants may interview for jobs with potential employers in the hospitality industry on 28 August.”
