Bedford College is continuing to create the Steven Spielbergs of the future with a new winner in the UK Skills Challenge Video Production awards.

Phil Feeney of Luton has won a Gold Medal for his work on a channel “ident” – that is the 2 of BBC 2 or the 4 of Channel 4 where the figures are represented in various ways to establish an image of the channel in the minds of viewers.

Phil had to create his own channel name and decided on Vagabond TV which was about alternative youth programming including music and extreme sports.

Phil knows something about extreme sports himself being a sponsored “street biker” where performs cycle stunts in urban environments.

Now working a series of promo videos and his own website www.philfeeney.com, Phil is off to the Ravensbourne College of Design and Communications in Kent in October.

His Bedford College Course Manager Sean Doyle said: “Phil is the latest in a series of our students who have won awards in the UK Skills Challenge over the years – and they have all gone to interesting things in the industry. I am still hoping for one of them to remember us in their Oscar acceptance speech!”
