Progress to Excellence Ltd showcases apprenticeships as a top career route
THE changing face of apprenticeships and their track to highly-paid jobs is being showcased by Progress to Excellence Ltd at a major careers event on Merseyside.
Hundreds of apprenticeship vacancies are currently on offer across the region as employers increasingly see the vital role new apprentices play in strengthening their businesses so they can grow and thrive.
A route to these many and varied apprenticeships will be opened up to job-seekers by national training provider Progress to Excellence Ltd at Liverpool Careers Fair, being held on Wednesday, June 19 at the city’s Adelphi Hotel.
Damian Burdin, Chief Executive at Progress to Excellence Ltd, said: “Apprentices are now key to turning the tide of the skills gap in the wider Liverpool City Region – which takes in Liverpool, Wirral, Sefton, Knowsley, St Helens and Halton – with increasing numbers of employers choosing apprentices to become their skilled workforce of the future.
“Apprenticeships have changed beyond recognition when it comes to training and career opportunities and they no longer just apply to the old traditional trades. With an explosion of industry-recognised and highly-rated apprenticeship schemes across most sectors throughout the UK, the apprentice is now becoming one of the most valuable assets a company can acquire.”
To guide job-seekers and learners down the apprenticeship path, staff from Progress to Excellence Ltd will be on hand at the fair to give advice about how to access apprenticeships, the type of apprenticeships and the sectors where they are available, training programmes, qualifications and apprenticeship funding.
Damian continued: “With many young people – and their parents – currently immersed in GCSE and A-levels, now is a good time to think about the benefits of becoming an apprentice and the numerous career options accessible to them by choosing an apprenticeship as a real alternative to university.
“Developed and nurtured in the workplace, they can reap the rewards of earning while they are learning, sometimes putting them further up the jobs ladder than those who have chosen to spend three years working towards a degree.
“As part of a company’s workforce of ‘home grown’ talent, apprentices are the ones who are trained to learn specific skills, gain a real understanding of the business where they are working and can expand their knowledge to become valuable assets to the operation. Structured training also means apprentices are able to gain further qualifications to help set them on a rewarding career path.”
Apprenticeships, Damian pointed out, are not only for young people but, as there’s no upper age limit, can be taken up by mature people who want to re-train and embark on a new career in later life.
Through its Apprenticeship Recruitment Service, Progress to Excellence Ltd constantly sees the advantages employers gain from including apprentices in their operations.
Damian added: “More and more they are seeing the value of taking on apprentices so they can tailor their own flexible, high-quality and sector-specific training with the end result of a highly-trained, loyal and motivated workforce with a shared commitment to make the business succeed.”
