Liverpool Theatre School Hits the Right Note with Outstanding Ofsted Report

Liverpool Theatre School is celebrating after achieving the highest possible rating during its latest Ofsted inspection. The Merseyside stage school, which specialises in professional acting and musical theatre training, was rated ‘outstanding’ in all areas including quality of teaching, learning and assessment.     

Ofsted inspectors were impressed by the vast industry experience of teachers at Liverpool Theatre School, as well as the work ethic of students, which was noted as being ‘excellent’. The report also highlights the ‘extensive, high quality advice and guidance’ students receive from teachers in order to develop their skills and performance quality to a ‘very high standard’. 

Maxine Ellis, Principal at Liverpool Theatre School, is thrilled to have achieved an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating. She said: “Liverpool Theatre School marks its 80^th anniversary this year and an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted report is a perfect way to celebrate.  

“I am surrounded by a fantastic team of talented teachers at Liverpool Theatre School and I am absolutely delighted that their hard work and dedication has been recognised by Ofsted. I am also extremely proud of our students, whose excellent work ethic really shone through during the inspection.”   

Since it began 80 years ago, Liverpool Theatre School has prepared hundreds of performers for life on the stage and graduates can be seen in hit shows from the West End to Las Vegas.  

Alumni include Carina Gillespie, who is appearing in Wicked in the West End, Tommy Sherlock, who is starring in Tenors of Rock in Las Vegas and Alex Patmore, who recently landed a lead role in Blood Brothers.

Every year, Liverpool Theatre School invites talented young performers to audition for a place on its Trinity College diploma courses in Acting and Musical Theatre. The performing arts school is also currently auditioning for students to enrol on the first year of its brand new fully-funded BTEC course in Musical Theatre, which is set to start in September.

The next auditions for all courses, which are open to talented young performers aged 16 or over, will take place on 9th June. To secure a place at the Liverpool Theatre School auditions, applicants must register in advance.
