Barking & Dagenham College students perform original work at Barbican’s Pit Theatre
Performing Arts students from Barking & Dagenham College performed a new piece on stage at the Barbican as part of this year’s Barbican Box Theatre 2019.
Each year the Barbican arranges of a box of various items to be sent to schools and colleges then the box’s contents are used as the creative inspiration for new work.
This year’s box was put together by Slung Low Theatre Company, providing the students with a range of stimuli to use as a jumping off point to create a piece of performance. The students worked on themes of survival and entrapment, creating a 20 minute original physical theatre performance.
Sarah Pagram, Course Leader Performing Arts – Dance at the College commented:
“The project is a wonderful opportunity for our learners to perform in a venue such as the Barbican, giving them an insight into the professional performing arts industry.”
