BAFTA award winning writer shares industry tips with Clarendon Sixth Form College students

Students at Clarendon Sixth Form College met one of the television industry’s biggest names recently when Danny Brocklehurst, a screenwriter for the likes of Netflix and the BBC, visited the college to talk about his career.

Danny, who has worked on shows such as ‘Shameless’, ‘Safe ‘ and ‘Ordinary Lies’ and won a BAFTA award, visited film and media students to talk about his career and what motivated him to work in television.

Students were given an insight into how Danny creates ideas for his television scripts, what it takes to make it in the industry and how he got his first big break.

Once he had completed his A-levels, Danny worked as a journalist for the Manchester Evening News. After presenting his script ideas to television bosses, he received his first opportunity to write two series of ‘clocking off’. Danny now works as a full time screenwriter and has worked on some of the biggest television shows of the last decade.
