Institute consulting on new Financial and Accountancy T Levels

The Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education (The Institute) is consulting on new Financial and Accountancy T Levels.

It will cover draft outline content for the technical qualification, which is part of the legal, finance and accounting industry route. This means that it sets out in draft form what core and specialist learning will be required for these T Levels, which are due to be taught from 2022.

It promises to be an exciting development for this industry, as T Levels will provide students with a new, high quality launch pad into work.

Carmel Grant, Deputy Director for Technical Education Implementation said:

“A panel of industry experts has developed the draft outline content for these exciting new T Levels.

“By involving employers throughout this process, the Institute will ensure that every T Level is full of content which is engaging, stretching and relevant to the world of work. This was our aim with the Financial and Accountancy T Levels.

“We now welcome views through this consultation from wider stakeholders.”

The latest consultation launch comes soon after the Institute awarded contracts for the first three T Levels, to NCFE and Pearson respectively.

T Levels are new high quality two-year, technical study programmes that will be available across 11 industry routes. Alongside apprenticeships and A levels, T Levels will be one of the three major options available to people aged 16 – 19.

By involving employers throughout the process, the Institute aims to ensure that T Level content is relevant, engaging and applicable to the world of work. The first wave will be taught from September 2020, the second from September 2021, and the third from September 2022.

The Post-16 Skills Plan sets out the Government’s vision to reform technical education by creating a technical education option (T Levels) that prepares individuals for skilled employment by developing the technical knowledge and skills needed by employers and industry.
