‘Leveraging the Levy’ conference at Queen Mary University of London
The launch of Apprenticeships Anthology 2019 and assessing the progress of apprenticeships.
‘Leveraging the levy’, a conference to be held at Queen Mary University of London, intends to provide apprenticeship stakeholders and other interested parties an opportunity to discuss the progress of the apprenticeship initiative.
The breakfast event, in collaboration with The Good Schools Guide: Careers, takes place two years after the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy and will host expert voices from government, higher education and business.
Sir Gerry Berragan, chief executive of the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IFA), is to present the keynote address in which he will review the previous twelve months and set out his aspirations for the year ahead. The conference will close with a Q&A session when guests may put questions to Sir Gerry and a panel comprising other experts who have spoken during the course of the morning.
Apprenticeships Anthology 2019, the latest edition of the sell-out publication, will be launched at the conference and contains reports and reflections from scheme administrators, educators, politicians and apprentices themselves.
Lord Lucas, editor of The Good Schools Guide, said that “while there have been bumps in the road over the first two years, the apprenticeship levy is now proving itself to be a tremendously important initiative and those businesses engaged in apprenticeship programmes are already seeing the rewards. The recruitment of young, able and enthusiastic employees and training them in the workplace is crucial not only to a company’s future prosperity but also to upping the country’s productivity rate”.
