University Campus Barnsley’s Electric Theatre Company presents Great Britain
The Electric Theatre Company, run by University Campus Barnsley (UCB) BA Hons Acting for Touring Theatre students, invites the public to their performances of Richard Bean’s Great Britain.
Students will take to the stage for their shows at the Civic Barnsley on Wednesday 20 February at 7.00pm and Thursday 21 February at 1.00pm and 7.00pm.
This hilarious fast-paced play is an anarchic and foul-mouthed satire about the press, the police, and the political establishment. Follow Paige Britain, the ambitious, morally-bankrupt young news editor of The Free Press, as she embarks on her never-ending battle to get more readers for her tabloid newspaper. Unfortunately Paige discovers the benefits of illegal phone tapping and risks putting herself and the people around her into morally dubious and dangerous territory.
Peter Lawton, HE Pathway Leader for Media, Music and Performing Arts at UCB, said: “This comedy humorously encapsulates the recent past, making current events a timeless source of satire. Our very talented actors have worked incredibly hard to do this great play justice and they truly deserve your support.”
Tickets for the productions are available now at www.barnsleycivic.co.uk/events/great-britain priced from £5 to £8.
