From education to employment

University of Greenwich launches new school for creative industries

The School of Stage and Screen offers a unique portfolio of programmes across Drama and Film & TV.

Students will get to work with industry partners working at the cutting edge of the film, sound and theatre industries. The school will also establish an advisory board to provide key access to what employers are looking for as the range of jobs within the industries continues to diversify and grow.

Dr Misha Myers, Head of School of Stage & Screen said:

“The creation of a new School of Stage and Screen within the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences and realignment of TV and Film and Drama provision into the new School will allow us to build on our existing successes and develop sector-leading provision that prepares our students for the rapidly changing creative arts sector.”

The new school will sit within the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences and make use of the state-of-the-art facilities and techniques at the university’s Stockwell Street building and historic Bathway theatre.

A formal launch of the new school will take place Wednesday November 9 at the university’s Stockwell Street building from 18:00.

The launch will showcase works created by students across the school including excerpts from Bathway Theatre Company’s third Edinburgh Festival Fringe production and films produced as part of the Film and Television Masters programme.

In addition, guests will experience works created by academic staff across the school, including an interactive performance by ZU-UK and an ambisonic sound installation by composers, artists and researchers from the SOUND/IMAGE Research Centre.
