Colourful visit at Bradford College from hair industry expert

A hair colour expert visited Bradford College to deliver a masterclass to hairdressing apprentices.

Amy Rosier, who is an educator with leading hair care firm Wella, showed students the latest products and techniques, including balayage and ombre colouring, and gave them expert support as they used them to transform the hair of volunteer clients.

Amy said: “The purpose of the visit was to give the apprentices confidence, hints and tips on the best products and how to use them.

“As apprentices, the students are working in salons with clients on a daily basis so these sessions are a great way to keep them up-to-date with what is going on in the industry and what clients want. We can tell them about the latest trends and products.

“Now is a great time to be entering the hair industry as clients today are very open to change which means that there are great opportunities for hairdressers to be creative and work with trends.”

Among the students enjoying the workshop was Ashley Parker from Pinnacle Hair Studio in Allerton.

She said: “I enjoyed learning the free-hand hair colouring and I have been reassured that I am doing the technique correctly.

“It is great to get the expert advice and support from industry professionals.

“I am loving my apprenticeship. To combine working in a salon and coming into college for training is perfect for me. It is the best of both worlds.”

Rachel Simpson, hairdressing trainer at Bradford College, added:

“We regularly bring in industry experts such as Amy to ensure our students are informed about and trained in the very latest technologies, techniques, trends and products.

“Hairdressing is a trend-led industry so it is important that our students are educated in the latest developments so they are at the cutting edge of the craft.”

The hair salon at the college, along with its spa and beauty rooms, is open to the public, giving students real-life salon experience and offering visitors top-notch treatments at affordable prices.
