Barton Peveril nominated for Bett Impact Awards 2019 for TED-Ed Teaching

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College have been , following the College’s use of TED-Ed for learning in the classroom. The Bett Awards celebrate the innovative use of technology in education, each year.

Teachers at Barton Peveril use Ted-Ed to record videos about curriculum topics each week, which students watch prior to their lessons. Videos created by Barton Peveril Director of Humanities Mark Robinson have so far amassed over 1.5 million views online, watched by people around the world on the official Ted-Ed YouTube channel and website.

Speaking on the award, Mark Robinson said: “It’s really exciting to have been short-listed for the award. The Humanities department has been doing loads of fantastic work with flipped learning, and it’s great to have that recognised nationally.”

Current student Georgie Burton, formerly of The Hamble School, spoke highly of this teaching tool: “We have used TED Ed extensively in both History and Classical Civilisations lessons and their content has helped us develop our knowledge of the subjects. Moreover it is a great source of revision as it provides everything we need to know in an easy to absorb format.”
