ETF launches new film to inspire potential teachers and trainers to FE Careers
The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) has launched a new short film aiming to inspire people to take up careers as teachers and trainers in the Further Education and Training sector. It will be shown at a range of careers events and promoted via partner organisations and social media.
Looking for a Rewarding Career? Become a Teacher in Further Education, features professionals from across the sector explaining why they chose their career and the satisfaction they derive from it.
The interviewees are drawn from across the wide range of settings in which Further Education takes place, including general and specialist colleges, prisons, and adult community education, and from subjects as diverse as Childcare, Games and Animation, Maths and English, and ICT.
They discuss both the very rewarding nature of working with the diverse range of learners in Further Education, as well as the flexibility and autonomy they enjoy. Their interviews emphasise the variety of what they do, the satisfaction of helping individuals transform their lives, and the value they see in sharing their experiences and knowledge.
Howard Pilott, the ETF’s Head of Initial Teacher Education, Development and Advice, said:
“If you’ve got experience in the workplace or technical knowledge, FE is a superb place to share it. As the teachers and trainers in this film underline, it’s a hugely-rewarding environment in which you can make a massive difference to the lives of learners. We hope these individuals’ experiences will help to inspire many more people to choose a career in FE.”
Those interested in FE can access free advice on training, courses and incentives via the ETF’s FE Advice service, by telephone (0300 303 1877) or email.
The ETF runs a number of programmes designed to recruit people into teaching careers in Further Education and Training.
