CITB seeks three new board members to broaden skillset
The CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) is encouraging influential individuals to apply to become Trustees of its Board.
The Department for Education is seeking to appoint two new CITB Trustees from construction employers with experience of Finance, Human Resources, Communications or IT/Digital; and one independent Trustee with knowledge and understanding of training provision.
These vacancies have arisen as current trustees Karen Jones, Maria Pilfold and David Harris are completing their four year terms of office.
CITB Board Trustees are responsible for the governance, strategic direction and monitoring of business performance and are expected to have the ability to offer and communicate a progressive view of the industry’s future skills and training needs.
CITB aims to lead the construction sector by example to ensure fairness, inclusion and respect for all. Applications from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply for these positions.
Peter Lauener, Chair of CITB, said: “I would like to thank Karen, Maria and David for their commitment to the CITB board over the last four years and for overseeing the start of our Vision 2020 programme. The skills and experience they have contributed during their time in post has been valued by industry and Government alike.
“It’s vital that people with a variety of backgrounds are represented on the Board to ensure we have the right skills to move the vision 2020 programme forward to deliver an organisation that is accountable, representative and responsive to industry’s needs.”
The CITB Board is accountable to the Secretary of State for Education, the Charity Commission and CITB’s beneficiaries. The CITB Trustees are required to operate with a high level of transparency and accountability.
