Saboohi Famili is leaving Epping Forest College due to merger plans
Epping Forest announces the departure of their CEO and Principal due to merger plans.
Arising out of the merger between New City College (NCC) and Epping Forest College (EFC), Saboohi Famili, CEO and Principal of EFC will be leaving on 31 July 2018.
Saboohi Famili was appointed as CEO and Principal in September 2016 and almost immediately faced a series of challenges including a poor OFSTED inspection. Within just over a year, Ofsted re-inspected the College, acknowledged the substantial improvements that had been made and increased the College grades accordingly.
She said: “Epping Forest College will continue to have a long future and I want to thank all staff and governors for working with me in partnership to secure the future of the College and for improving the quality of education for our students. The College is, indeed, a different and better place to work and study and this is thanks to everyone’s hard work. I have witnessed first-hand the results of the staff’s dedication and commitment to our students. It has been a very rewarding time for me and I shall miss a great deal about the College, especially the people I have worked and made friends with.”
She added: “I am pleased that we have chosen NCC, one of the UK’s largest and leading FE Colleges, as our merger partner. Our merger with NCC will secure a sustainable future for the College and the communities it serves.”
Martin Rosner, Chairman of the Board of Governors at Epping Forest College said: “Epping Forest College has been privileged to have been led by Saboohi over the last two years. When she joined the College, the quality of provision was poor and just a few weeks after her appointment, Ofsted, the government inspection service, judged the college to be “Inadequate”. Within just over a year, Ofsted re-inspected the College, acknowledged the substantial improvements that had been made and increased the College grades accordingly. Much of this improvement is down to the inspired, dedicated and diligent contribution of Saboohi”.
He added: “The forthcoming merger with NCC will help Epping Forest College to develop and build upon our strengths for our learners and ensure the College has a brighter and sustainable long-term future for our community and the wider region.
On behalf of all the staff, governors and students of Epping Forest College, we wish Saboohi our very best wishes for the future.”
