Aston Martin recruitment drive a success at Cardiff and Vale College

An Aston Martin recruitment event for the next generation of engineers held at Cardiff and Vale College this week proved a resounding success.

Around 150 people came to the College’s City Centre Campus to see what a career with the iconic British sport car manufacturer has to offer. Aston Martin held the event to give people in their final year of an Engineering degree the opportunity to speak to members of the Aston Martin team to discuss career options and the company’s future plans.

Recent graduates who now work with Aston Martin were also on hand to share their experience of being employed by the company. The event was also supported by Vale AM Jane Hutt.

Cardiff and Vale College Vice Principal Mary Kent gave a presentation about the College’s close working partnership with Aston Martin. Following that, the company’s Director of HR Hazel Martin outlined Aston Martin’s Second Century expansion strategy and its plans for the new facility at St Athan.

The event was designed for people who will soon graduate in a range of engineering disciplines:

Cardiff and Vale College worked alongside Aston Martin and eight universities from across the country to bring in their future graduates: Cardiff Met, Cardiff University, Kingston University, Sheffield Hallam University, University of South Wales, University of Wales Trinity Saint David and the University of the West of England.

Aston Martin Director of HR Hazel Martin said: “This was a really good event – we saw some very interesting people and there was a real buzz of excitement. I think it went extremely well.

“It’s good to see that so many people are enthusiastic and interested in working with Aston Martin and who want to be part of our next stage – the Second Century Plan.”
