Picture perfect visit for photography students

Photography students from Clarendon Sixth Form College visited Tameside Central Art Gallery for an inspirational talk by photographer Ken Morris and to explore his exhibition ‘The World Through My Lens – a Photographic Journey’.

Ken discussed his photographs with students, which were taken during the last 15 years as he changed from traditional film to a digital camera. They include scenes ranging from the Canadian Rockies to New Zealand’s southern alps, from New England in the autumn to the baking African savannah, and from foggy San Francisco to the glittering Hong Kong waterfront at night.

Claire Platt, photography teacher at Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “This visit was a fantastic opportunity to see the works that Ken has produced and to learn the method and creativity behind them. He has made his career as a civil servant but his photography work is an extension of that and the places he visited. The students were very lucky to get the chance to do something like this.”
