Country Range Student Chef Organiser Issues Final Call for Entries
With the deadline for entries fast approaching on the 15th December, Country Range Student Chef Challenge Manager Emma Holden has issued a final call to student chef hopefuls looking to add some spice to their career prospects.
The challenge requires teams of three students to develop a three-course, three-cover menu in 90 minutes with a budget of £30. With an ‘Around the World in Three Spices’ theme testing the student’s culinary knowledge and kitchen skills, teams must use a different fresh or ground spice in each of the courses.
Teams can apply online but they will have to be quick as the deadline for entries closes on the 15th December.
Emma Holden, Challenge Manager said:
“The Country Range Student Chef Challenge provides young chefs with the perfect opportunity to improve and test themselves and can add huge value to their CV’s and career prospects. Just look at previous winner Emily Bucknall who is now working for Sat Bains.”
Teams making it through to the paper judging stage will then compete in Live Regional Heats that will take place at easily-accessible catering colleges between the 22nd January – Friday 8th February 2018.
The Live Grand Final will then take place on Wednesday 7th March 2018 in front of an exhibition audience at Hotelympia 2018 – the UK’s largest foodservice and hospitality event.
The eventual winners will receive a bespoke set of three Flint & Flame knives, a trip to the 2018 Universal Cookery & Food Festival, Westlands, in September 2018 and they will be treated to one night’s accommodation and dinner at Michelin-starred restaurant Simpsons in Kenilworth.
