Audition masterclass from leading performance school

A leading national performing arts institution visited Clarendon Sixth Form College this week.  Staff from ArtsEd, a higher education organisation based in London, worked with performing arts students to help them prepare for auditions.  The activity follows a recent announcement that Clarendon Sixth Form College will host ArtEd’s north-west regional auditions in February 2018.

Yusuf Khamisa, senior acting tutor at ArtsEd, said: “The workshop is all about inclusivity and raising the aspirations of students.  We give them a taste of what to expect and, hopefully, the confidence to do well when the opportunities arise.  We expect over 500 people to attend the ArtsEd auditions in February at Clarendon Sixth Form College.  It gives you an idea of the level of competition for places. So everyone has to raise their game.”

The February event at Clarendon Sixth Form College is the first time that ArtsEd have held auditions in the north of England.  Regarded as a leading musical theatre and acting institute, the auditions will improve access to the organisation for students from across the north of England.

Richard Goodwin, curriculum leader for performing arts, said: “As our relationship with ArtsEd grows we can support the development and aspirations of our own students.  Not only can the students see what is possible they feel connected to professionals in the sector.  Our aim is for them to emulate the people they are meeting.”

ArtsEd regional auditions take place at Clarendon Sixth Form College on Saturday 3 February 2018.
