urbasba Aesthetic Clinic and IPL courses launched at Cardiff and Vale College

Cardiff and Vale College’s salon and spa, urbasba, is launching a new Aesthetic Clinic following its registration as Independent Hospital.

CAVC urbasba has registered with Health Inspectorate Wales as an Independent Hospital in order to deliver advanced aesthetic Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments such as hair removal and skin rejuvenation. The salon will be offer training in the treatments to its students and people in the beauty industry who want to upskill as well as offering the treatments to the public.

The College now offers a new course – VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Light for Hair Removal or Skin Rejuvenation Treatments. The course has been specially designed for beauty therapists who wish to add IPL treatments to their portfolio of skills.

CAVC Deputy Head of Hair, Beauty Spa and Complementary Therapies Rachel Jones said: “We are delighted to be able to offer these state-of-the-art treatments and higher level skills which enable us to meet employers needs in a fast growing aesthetic industry. We are also able to meet the growing demands for our customers at urbasba. Not only that, it represents an excellent opportunity for our learners and for those already in the industry to gain recognised qualifications in IPL treatments.”

A special urbasba Aesthetic Clinic Launch and Christmas Shopping Extravaganza at the salon at the College’s City Centre Campus on 7th December from 4.30-7.30pm. There will be demonstrations of the IPL treatments by the urbasba Pro Team and 15% off Aesthetic Clinic bookings made on the night.

There will also be discounts of up to 50% on products including Elemis, KMS, Sienna X, Olaplex, Pierre Rene and Goldwell and free gift wrapping on the night.

The spa will be working with Biocare-one, which incorporates eight aesthetic technologies into one multifunctional device allowing a unique and unparalleled range of treatments with efficiency and patient comfort. The use of IPL targets pigmentations, broken capillaries and hair follicles while also stimulating natural collagen production which can make the skin look more youthful by reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Any provider that carries out services that come within the scope of registration outlined in the Care Standards Act 2000 and the Independent Health Care (Wales) Regulations 2011 such as IPL treatments is required to register with the Health Inspectorate Wales.
