BABINGTON PARTNERS WITH CMI TO QUALIFY 500 PROFESSIONAL MANAGERS
A new agreement between training provider Babington Group and Chartered Management Institute (CMI) will see 500 managers earn professional qualifications up to the internationally-recognised Chartered Manager status over the next year.
As part of the agreement, Babington will offer learners CMI-backed management qualifications at Level 3, Level 5 and Level 7, as well as the new breed of employer-designed Trailblazer management apprenticeships.
Students on the CMI dual-accredited management courses will also gain CMI membership and access to ManagementDirect, the CMI’s online portal. Containing more than 15,000 study resources, this is used by tens of thousands of learners every year.
In addition, students will gain access to Babington’s digital learning platform BabingtonOnline, where they will learn through interactive content and an exclusive leadership forum. At the same time, students will be guided through programmes by industry-experienced leadership mentors.
Carole Carson, chief executive of Babington, commented:
“We are delighted to form a partnership with CMI, which ensures that our programmes contain the latest thinking in leadership practice and make a real difference to UK business”.
A 2016 report by Investors in People found that poor management costs the UK £84bn a year in lost productivity. According to CMI research, seven in 10 employers fail to train first-time managers, creating a problem known in business as ‘the accidental manager’. The agreement with Babington is another step forward for CMI in its mission to increase the number of professionally qualified managers and leaders.
Steve Heappey Director of Employer and Provider Partnerships at CMI, said:
“ In a tough economic climate there is no doubt that developing world-class management and leadership is essential to a company’s growth, and I urge employers to make sure that they support their managers to become Chartered. We’re delighted to be working with Babington Group to give 500 managers the opportunity to gain the professional skills that will benefit their employers, as well as their own career development”.
Over 25,000 people now study a CMI dual-accredited further education qualification every year, with more than 1,000 earning Chartered Manager status. According to CMI research, Chartered Managers add up to £362,000 of value to their employers through greater performance. Four in five (80%) of Chartered Managers report that professional accreditation has benefited their careers.
