From education to employment

Ironhack celebrates first UK hybrid campus in London with industry panel event

  • Launch event features speakers including Talent.io, StepEx and WISE
  • Ironhack aims to reduce the gender skills gap in tech

Tech bootcamp specialists, Ironhack, are celebrating their UK launch with an event in London this week.

Taking place at the Huckletree in Shoreditch on the 24th March, the event brings over 100 guests together to hear panel discussions and talks from experts covering hiring tech talent, the future of education and closing the digital skills and gender gap.

Ironhack aims to bring together the public and private sector to improve education opportunities for career changes and those who want to upskill. Throughout the event there will be a number of announcements on how organisations can get involved in new initiatives that will impact the future of education.

The gender gap will be a key topic of the event, as just 26% of the current UK tech workforce is women,• Gender equality campaigners, Wise, will reveal the results of their report into this subject and how hybrid education can contribute to changing these statistics for the better.

Attendees will also hear from the Ironhack alumni community, and how new students can join this growing community to receive support with their course and careers.

Gonzalo Manrique, co-founder of Ironhack, comments:

“We’ve helped over 9,000 students around the world graduate with new skills and careers in UX, web development and data analytics. Whilst we recognise the advantages of virtual learning, we believe a hybrid model offers students the best environment to learn and meet others in their industry. We hope to meet new partners in the UK to help us achieve our ambitions to improve the digital skills gap and in particular increase the number of women in tech roles, and our launch event will be the start of building those relationships.”

Daniel George, StepEx, adds:

“Events like these are vital in bringing together organisations for a greater purpose. We all want to improve the future of the tech industry both for those currently working and those who may just be considering their career options. By working together we’ll be able to make changes more effectively and make a lasting difference to a new generation of workers.”

Ironhack hybrid bootcamps will start from the 21st March at huckletree in Shoreditch, with the next networking event on the 31st March.
