Wigan & Leigh College launch FAB new advice, guidance and employability service
FAB Futures is a new centre at Wigan & Leigh College, backed by Wigan Council, which is dedicated to ensuring focused, ambitious and bright (FAB) futures for all students.
As well as providing a service to all new admissions to the College through a supportive Information, Advice & Guidance team, it supports current students wishing to progress onto the next level of course or onto University.
The FAB Futures Centre, which officially launched on the same day as Wigan Works Shop, also offers careers advice and guidance and getting help with job search which includes 1 to 1 help with CVs, research into the labour market, current salaries and growing industry sectors.
As the largest College provider of apprenticeships in Greater Manchester, people searching for an apprenticeship can benefit from the established links with employers and a free apprenticeship vacancy matching service is available through the FAB Futures centre.
Students at the College will also benefit from the services of the Work Experience team which helps students develop their employability skills through relevant work experience.
College Principal, Anna Dawe commented: “Wigan & Leigh College is extremely proud to launch the Fab Futures centre which has a purpose to enhance skills and employability in the area by ensuring students secure positive and meaningful destinations.”
Councillor David Molyneux, Wigan Council’s cabinet member for regeneration, said: “The new Fab Futures centre at Wigan & Leigh College is a really valuable resource for students wanting support and advice on moving into work.
“It complements the council’s Wigan Works Shop, which is based at the Life Centre, perfectly and ensures we now have a high quality offer of employment and skills guidance in Wigan.”
