Students receive recognition for voluntary work

​South Eastern Regional College (SERC) public services students have reached a golden milestone in their volunteering campaign by achieving a nationally recognised 50 Hour Millennium Volunteers Certificate for their hard work.

Public Services tutor, Irwin Price said, “Public services work for the community. For young people who have yet to embark upon their careers this is a challenge not just for securing jobs in the future but also in gaining part time work now.  This experience is a fantastic platform for potential applicants to show they are willing to make a difference. Their volunteering has really benefited them through improved confidence and having the opportunity to put what they learn in the classroom into practice.” Irwin added, “The range of skills they have developed, combined with the qualification, will make them stand out to potential future employers. I would encourage other students to consider a similar venture.”
