Jobseekers in Devon have an exciting opportunity to embark on a new, well-paid career in the green sector in March 2022 – as one of the UK’s leading not–for-profit training providers launches a FREE bootcamp designed to turn applicants into ‘retrofit’ specialists.

To tackle climate change and to help keep household fuel bills down, the UK needs to improve the energy efficiency of a large part of its approximately 27 million homes by encouraging and promoting the installation of various sustainable technologies (like solar panels and ground source heat pumps) in a process called Retrofit.

The Retrofit Academy, in partnership with Devon County Council, are here to help those in Devon by fast-tracking 20 local people into starting a career as a Retrofit Advisor.

Retrofit Advisors are tasked with guiding customers on the retrofit process. They act as ‘Green Consultants’, providing support during retrofits, booking contractors, handling grant applications, reviewing surveys, and conducting online property assessments.

The Retrofit Academy’s 10-week bootcamp is being delivered in partnership with Generation – a fellow non-profit organisation who are specialists in helping people get into employment. This means that as a bootcamp enrollee, not only will you achieve a Level 3 Certificate in Domestic Retrofit Advice, you are also guaranteed a job interview with an employer partner.

With CV writing and interview preparation support, the bootcamp will give participants the valuable skills and knowledge required to thrive in these essential green roles. 85% of bootcamp graduates are employed within three months, earning starting salaries of £20k-£23k (progressing up to £30k in just two years).

The training programme is completely fully-funded – with costs covered by the UK Government’s £220m Community Renewal Fund

Learning takes place online via remote classrooms with daily lessons, practical sessions, team projects and practice interviews. Qualified instructors guide trainees every step of the way, with mentors assigned for 1-to-1 support.

The deadline to apply is 14 March 2022 – with just 20 spaces available.

Applicants can find out more by visiting the official course page.

High demand is expected, so apply here as soon as possible if you’re interested in a brand new career in the green sector.
