Waltham Forest College students develop water pump for third world to get their hands on People’s Choice Awards

Students at Waltham Forest College gave up their time to make a positive change and impact on the community and the world with plans that tie to their career.

Raul Cadar, Micheal Anunobi, Armandas Stephanovas and Ali Alamtory, Level 2 Business students entered London Met’s Big Idea Challenge 2017 finals for a chance to win the People’s Choice Award, mentorship and worth £30,000 investment.

Over 100 students across London are getting involved in the biggest enterprise competition run by the business incubator Accelerator. Part of London Metropolitan University, Accelerator gives students and graduates a taste of entrepreneurship.

Micheal Anunobi and Ali Alamtory, students in Business & IT said, “This is a life-changing opportunity for us. The experience and the possibilities from participating in this program are endless.”

The finalists presented their idea of the ‘Water Sterilisation Pump’ for parts of the world that suffer from lack of clean water supplies. The pump will help those affected by a shortage of water by cutting down logistical issues and improve health in the community.

Armed with their wittiest lines and ready for tough negotiation, the students are hopeful that their pitch will make a big enough splash to walk away as winners of the Big Idea Challenge 2017.

The Big Ideas Challenge is the latest in a series of events facilitated by Waltham Forest College that aims to equip students with real life experiences, opportunities to develop essential work skills and address significant needs of the community by working together.
