Cloud Nine celebrate NAW2022

To mark National Apprenticeship Week 2022 (#NAW2022), Olivia Ryan, a Digital Marketing Apprentice at leading hair and beauty brand CLOUD NINE, discusses how she is finding her apprenticeship so far and her advice for anyone considering an apprenticeship.

How long is the CLOUD NINE apprenticeship?

I started in October 2021, and I’ll finish in December 2022. So just over a year.

Where did you hear about it?

I used to work at a golf club, which turned out to be a great place to network. Someone I met there worked at CLOUD NINE, so I mentioned that I wanted some digital marketing experience, and they suggested the apprenticeship.

Do you attend college?

No – everything is online, so I work full time at CLOUD NINE. I just have a meeting with my tutor once a month.

What does a typical day involve?

Working here is great because no two days are the same. I support the Digital Marketing Team in loads of ways, such as writing blogs for the website, scheduling email campaigns and taking photos for social media. It’s a real mix, and I thoroughly enjoy everything I do.

What do you like most about your job?

I absolutely love the variety – I get to experience something new and exciting every single day.  And I’m learning so much from so many different people.

What do you find challenging?

I put a lot of pressure on myself to learn quickly so I can help more people. But everyone is amazingly helpful and supportive, despite my relentless questions!

What’s the best thing about working at CLOUD NINE?

Everyone’s ideas are welcome here – no idea is a bad idea. Even though I’m new, I’m always encouraged to make suggestions.

Would you recommend an apprenticeship?

Definitely! If you’re offered an opportunity like this, take it. It’s the best way to learn. I did A levels and a degree, but I was still unsure what I wanted to do, and this experience has been hugely insightful.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In social media and digital marketing for sure. In five years’ time, I’d love to be as knowledgeable and skilled as the rest of the CLOUD NINE team I work with.
