Cardiff and Vale College student Tegan to swim for Wales
Tegan Frizelle, an A Level student at Cardiff and Vale College, is set to represent Wales in an international swimming tournament in France.
The 16-year-old from Cardiff will head over to Marseille to compete in the FFN Golden Tour 2017. The FNN Golden Tour is a series of swimming meets held in France and the Marseille leg is also part of the calendar of the European Swimming League.
“I got a good qualifying time in the nationals so I was picked to represent Wales in France,” Tegan said. “The team is like a long list for the team that will go out to the Bahamas for the Youth Commonwealth Games in the summer – there are lots of different competitions to go through to qualify for the Commonwealth Games.”
Tegan’s main event is the 200m individual medley – a race in which swimmers compete in all four strokes, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly and crawl, in the same event.
“I’m really excited to be going over to France,” Tegan said. “The World Record holder for the 200m IM is going to be there and that’s my main event.”
Tegan has been swimming for Cardiff since the age of ten and recently went to Plymouth College, a boarding school with a Performance Swimming Academy. But she decided to sit her A Levels at Cardiff and Vale College she wants to live closer to home before going to university.
“In the summer I’m hoping to qualify for the Youth Commonwealth Games and the British Nationals which take place after that,” she added.
