The Babington Group are delighted to have been chosen by the British Council to represent the UK and host 40 overseas delegates as part of a three day seminar on ‘Improving Employer and Learner Engagement in Vocational Education’.
The delegation consists of policy makers in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and are attached to Ministries of Higher Education or other Government funded skills organisations from across the world including Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Jamaica, South Africa and Pakistan.
The British Council hosted the seminar from 15th-17th November, and during their visit the delegation met with a number of the UK’s top training providers, universities and employers.
The aim of the visit was to provide the delegates with an enhanced understanding of the UK approach to Vocational Education and to provide insights and discuss the ideological and practical choices available to policy makers.
The Babington Group shared with delegates how their innovative approach can be applied in different contexts and how they deliver to the highest standards whilst responding to challenges such as meeting changing labour market needs.
Carole Carson, Babington Group Chief Executive, said “It’s been such a privilege to have been part of the visit and share with the delegates how we, as an Independent Training Provider, work with both employers and apprentices.
“We are so proud to be able to share our knowledge, experience and best practice to inform apprenticeship programmes across the world to benefit and learn lessons from the UK.”
She continued: “I’m sure we will continue to build on the relationships made during the visit – it’s a very exciting programme and one in which we are delighted to have been involved in.”
Commenting on the visit, Andy Hall, Skills Advisor, Policy Education and Society, British Council, said: “Our delegation of 40 senior policy makers from ten countries were delighted with their visit to Babington and universally impressed by what they offer.
“This visit and others like it is incredibly valuable to share best practice and common challenges and discuss innovative approaches.”
Mahesh Chandra Bitra a delegate from Maruti Sukuki of India Ltd said: “It has been a wonderful experience to be part of this study visit and explore the differences and indeed similarities across various vocational programmes in our country (India) and the UK.
“It has been a valuable learning experience and is so very important and appreciated that companies like Babington Group share best practice with other countries and companies to ensure apprenticeship programmes wherever they may be in the world are the very best that they can be.
