Leicester College awarded £250,000 to support Higher Education courses in creative industries
Leicester College’s (@LeicesterColl) Creative and Performing Arts, and Hair and Beauty departments have received £250,000 in funding following successful bids for capital grants from the Office for Students (OfS).
This funding will be used to support the delivery of Leicester College’s Higher Education (HE) provision, with an emphasis on creative arts and media, performing arts and music, and hair, beauty and media make up.
The funding will be used to upgrade current IT equipment in three dedicated digital suites across the curriculum area, purchase specific specialist subject equipment, and purchase recording equipment for lectures, practical sessions and demonstrations for all HE students.
From September 2022, HE students will benefit from an enhanced curriculum to ensure they gain the skills to meet the rapidly changing demands of the industry, access to up-to-date specialist equipment to help develop employability skills, and greater accessibility and flexibility of course delivery.
Following the announcement, Kully Sandhu, Vice Principal – Adult and Higher Education at Leicester College said:
“We are delighted to have secured this substantial funding from the Office for Students for our Higher Education courses. As a College, we continually look for ways to enhance the student experience and this funding will enable our Creative and Performing Arts department to offer an enhanced learning experience to HE students to ensure that they are work ready for the creative industries.”
