An Evening of Music on the Quays with Salford City College
Performing Arts students showcase their talents with an evening of music at The Lowry Theatre!
Musical Theatre students at Salford City College celebrated their end of year showcase with a stunning performance at The Lowry. Students and their guests were invited to the beautiful setting of The Compass Room which provides almost a 360 degree view of the Quays. Family and friends of the students together with special guests, Councillor Lisa Stone and Councillor Walsh were treated to an array of songs from a wide range of musicals, whilst enjoying fine food. Over 20 students put on professional performances including solo and group singing and some added cheek and humour along the way. Following the meal, a surprise encore ended the evening to perfection, before the students had a late evening of dancing and celebrations.
John Spindler, CEO and Principal at Salford City College said, “We see the great work of our students at many events throughout the year, but to be able to celebrate the completion of their course, whilst seeing all of the students performing together is very special and indeed we are very proud of the great things that they are now progressing onto”.
Paul Williams, Head of Performing Arts at Salford City College said, “We have celebrated the end of year for the students in a similar style for many years with ‘Music in the Park’ at Buile Hill. This year we wanted to freshen up the celebration and expose students to the wonderful setting of MediaCityUK. The event was simply fantastic, our students are so very talented and seeing the standard of their performance ability and confidence on completion of their course is most rewarding for all of the staff who have taught them.”
Some students are progressing onto a range of drama schools and universities to continue with their dreams and passion for the world of Musical Theatre and Salford City College would like to wish everybody the best of luck on the next step of their careers.
