Martin Doel on the future of FE Colleges

FE News catches up with Association of College chief executive Martin Doel about the future of FE Colleges at the 2015 AoC annual conference.

He discusses the importance of area reviews, which he believes are one of the main reasons to be optimisitc about the future:

The fact that [the government is] asking colleges to get into groups that are sustainable tells me they see colleges being essential in:

• Delivering preliminary Apprenticeships
• Ensuring young people have the English and maths skills they require to make careers in the future and deliver on their potential, and
• To have the higher technical and professional education that universities sadly don’t provide in responding to employers
