Digital Infrastructure Minister visits Barking & Dagenham College

Julia Lopez MP, Minister of State for Media, Data, and Digital Infrastructure visited Barking & Dagenham College on 25 November.

The Minister toured the College’s state-of-the-art digital training facilities at the East London Institute of Technology with a focus on cyber security and creative industries.

The College’s Principal & CEO Yvonne Kelly and Jason Turton, Chief Operating Officer, showed her the Idris Elba TV and film studio, David Bailey photography studio and the Cyber Security Hub. She also met students and their tutors.

Within the Idris Elba TV and film studio she saw a new LED virtual production screen and heard about the close work with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham’s film delivery service to curate real work opportunities for the students with the likes of Netflix, Apple and Warner Bros.

Within the College’s cyber security training hub, the minister heard how the College is working with the likes of Amazon and the National Crime Agency to develop training and placements for students.
