Government announces Apprenticeship voucher system
The government has announced plans to introduce a new Apprenticeship voucher system by Autumn 2017 that will give employers a discount on any training they buy.
The new system aims to put employers in control of Apprenticeship funding without adding unnecessary bureaucracy.
Skills Minister Nick Boles said: “The new Apprenticeship Voucher puts the power to shape and drive the quality of apprenticeships directly in the hands of employers. As a result, employers will have much greater influence on the value for money and relevance of the training their apprentices receive.
“The Apprenticeship Voucher offers a simple, burden-free way that will benefit employers regardless of their size or the number of apprentices they take on.”
Around 850,000 people participated in an Apprenticeship in 2013/14, and more than 240,000 workplaces employed an apprentice.
