AELP’s Stewart Segal covers traineeships, careers advice and more
FE News talks to Stewart Segal, chief executive of the Association of Employment & Learning Providers (AELP), at their Autumn Conference. He discusses its new manifesto, which outlines many ideas for vocational courses, careers education, study programmes and workforce development.
Mr Segal also discusses current funding reforms, warning how employer cash contributions could cause a barrier that blocks the increase of apprentices within SMEs.
Having attended recent political party conferences, he sets out the political viewpoints of Apprenticeship programmes, and tells us how the parties want to push for higher Apprenticeships and see the numbers of young apprentices rise.
Traineeships is another topic that Mr Segal delves into, voicing his opinion on what needs to change with the programme to enable more providers to deliver the it.
