United Colleges Group Principal to Become CEO in Enhanced Role

Stephen Davis, new Chief Executive & Group Principal, United Colleges Group

Group Principal of the United Colleges Group (@UCGLondon), Stephen Davis, is to become the group’s new Chief Executive & Group Principal.

Stephen will step into the position vacated by Nick Bell, who informed governors in August of his intention to retire from his role as Chief Executive. The board understands and accepts Mr Bell’s decision and thanks him for his service.

The role will see Stephen leading on academic and commercial operations at the group which includes City of Westminster College and the College of North West London.

He will start his new role on November 15. Nick Bell will continue to lead on the development of the new Wembley campus and other special projects until his retirement on March 31.

Stephen Davis, Group Principal of the United Colleges Group, said:

“I am delighted and humbled to be appointed to this wonderful role and I look forward to getting to work immediately for our students and staff.

“Combining the Chief Executive Officer and Principal roles has been very effective across the further education sector and I’m sure the reintroduction of the 360° view will be effective for us as we look to deliver the strategic priorities of the Board for the benefit of our students and staff.

“I also want to pay tribute to my predecessor, Nick Bell, whose stewardship over the last two years has given me a sound platform from which to build.”

Chair of the United Colleges Group Board, Tony Johnston, said:

“Stephen has brought a wealth of experience, drive, and talent to his role as Group Principal and all of us at UCG are looking forward to him bringing these qualities into his new role.

“He knows both City of Westminster College and College of North West London inside and out and is exactly the right person to deliver our strategic vision for the group.

“On behalf of the board, I would like to congratulate Stephen on his appointment and we look forward to working with him in this exciting stage of the group’s development.“
