Fun-filled Freshers Fair kicks off the new academic year

Southwark College (@SouthwarkColl) Freshers’ Fair took place this week to welcome new and returning students to the College and help them get a feel of college life.

During the event, students participated in various activities and heard from the student support teams who shared information about the range of services available to them, including additional learning support, enrichment activities and societies within the College.

Attendees also met representatives from local businesses and organisations, including Southwark Works, National Careers Service, Everyone Active, Healthy Young People and the NHS South East London Clinical Commissioning Group, Palace for Life Foundation and SOAR Recruitment, amongst others who were on hand to share information about services and products available to students in the local area.

Annette Cast, Principal at Southwark College, said:

“We are delighted to have hosted our first event of the academic year to welcome new and returning students to the College. The Freshers Fair is an excellent opportunity to showcase the range of services and enrichment activities available to our students to help them make the most of their college life.”

James Dudagi, representing the National Careers Service, said:

“Joining the Southwark College Freshers’ Fair was a wonderful opportunity to inform students about the support we offer and how they can access it. In the post-Covid-19 world, young people face many barriers, and we are here to provide any help they may need to help them succeed.”

Bismah, a Science student, said:

“I really enjoyed the Freshers’ Fair, I had fun with my classmates and found out about enrichment activities in Drama and Dance which I’m excited to try. I also learnt about employment opportunities and talked to organisations about the different roles available which can help me gain work experience and build my CV.”
