Baroness Stedman-Scott discusses sustainable and personalised employability programmes
FE News chats with Baroness Stedman-Scott, chief executive of Tomorrow’s People, to discuss sustainable and personalised long-term employability programmes to help young people into employment.
The FE News team asked Debbie what the sector needed to implement in 2015 to help young people find work. She outlined how more money and time is needed to help young people overcome barriers to find sustainable work. She gave an example of a pilot programme in London with 14 schools providing coaches to 14 year olds over a 5-year programme to help them overcome such barriers.
According to Debbie, the country needs sustainable and viable jobs because otherwise the NEET’s of today will be even more vulnerable and at risk as time progresses. She also gave a rallying call, not to wait for Government to act, but to develop programmes in the local community that are tailored to help young people find sustainable work.
