The Dirty Dozen support celebrity chefs

As summer draws to a close, Cambridge Regional College (@CRC_College) Chef Lecturer, Anthony Dunball, and Apprentice Commis Chef, Patrick Lyons, joined some of the country’s finest talent in a head-to-head barbecue contest organised by Murray Chapman, founder of Passion to Inspire.

CRC Chef Lecturer, Anthony Dunball said,

“Opportunities to work alongside industry experts and Michelin star chefs, while meeting students and lecturers from colleges around the country, is an invaluable enrichment experience for our trainee chefs. The day provided the chance to network with professionals, create dishes in a competitive arena and serve the public, developing a range of key skills that will support success in the industry.”

The Dingley Dell Dirty Dozen competition, which was held in Walthamstow, London, saw twelve colleges attend in a supportive role to assist professional chefs at the barbecue stations, with CRC supporting Head Chef of Kesgrave Hall, Lee Cooper and private chef, Greg Emmerson. The dishes were judged by a celebrity panel which included Dan Hawkins from the band The Darkness and comedian, Ed Gamble, and the food was sold to the general public with all funds raised going to charity.

Murray Chapman added, “The food, the fun, the banter was magical. A massive thank you to everyone who attended and supported the event, which has given catering students a chance to work with leading chefs in the industry.”

The Dirty Dozen competition, together with a charity auction, raised around £6,000 for the Suffolk-based Over the Rainbow Children’s Charity, while the title of Dirty Dozen Championship Team 2021 was taken by the Suffolk based Infusions Group, assisted by chef lecturer and students from New City College, London.
