Bristol’s Engineering, Education and Medicine courses among best in the country, Sunday Times and Guardian find
The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022, released today, found Bristol to be the UK’s top institution for General Engineering (known at Bristol as Engineering Design).
It also found Bristol to be the 5th best place to study Mechanical Engineering.
Meanwhile, the Guardian University Guide 2022, released on Monday, labelled Bristol as the best place in the UK to study Civil Engineering and third best for both General and Mechanical Engineering.
Other wins in the Guardian guide include Education being named the third top in the country on its first entry into the rankings, Social Policy and Administration being ranked 6th and top 10 placements for Chemistry, Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy & Pharmacology, Languages and Music.
There were several positive results in the Sunday Times guide too. Bristol was placed joint 4th for Criminology, 5th for Medicine and 6th for Dentistry. There were top ten spots for Psychology, Mathematics and Geology.
Both the Sunday Times and the Guardian ranked the University of Bristol as 14th in the country overall, out of 132 and 121 universities respectively.
The Sunday Times guide said of Bristol: “The Georgian buildings of Clifton make an attractive backdrop to undergraduate life at the University of Bristol, where a traditional subject mix, high entry standards and membership of the research-led Russell Group of universities combine to create a hugely popular institution.
“A degree from Bristol carries weight with employers, and the University achieved another top ten place in the latest High Fliers graduate market report, which reveals the universities most targeted by leading graduate employers.”
