Talent Foundry celebrate success

Independent education charity and tech start up work together to offer paid summer internship

The Talent Foundry were delighted to work with Hook Technology for the first time this year on their paid summer internship programme and both look forward to continuing the partnership.

Hook Technology approached The Talent Foundry as they wanted to find a way to give back to the community.  This led to The Talent Foundry distributing information and application packs about a paid 8 week summer internship with Hook to all the schools they work with in the surrounding area.  Applications for the internship then flooded in and a proper interview process was held, which included an application and two interviews.

The chosen intern had an incredible opportunity to gain experience at the tech start-up.  They had the chance to shadow and work alongside the  founder, operational manager as well as the product and data team, and completed their own project.

Hook Technology is a London based software company that focuses on the best way to get customers using, adopting and loving subscription products. They analyse all aspects of customer engagement, online and off. They then pinpoint exactly where to focus to increase retention and grow revenue.

The Talent Foundry is an independent education charity, whose aim is to increase social mobility by helping young people from disadvantaged backgrounds discover what they are amazing at, develop valuable new employment skills and take that first step into the world of work.

Cate Smith, Head of Programmes at The Talent Foundry said:

‘We were delighted to be approached by Hook Technology to help them promote the opportunity of a paid summer internship with them.  Opportunities like this are so important to help young people get on the first rung of the employment ladder and I know the chosen intern has had a summer they will never forget learning about technology, business management, entrepreneurialism and software development.”

Firaas Rashid, Founder and CEO of Hook Technology, said:

“At Hook we are on a mission to build an amazing workplace for ambitious people who love working in like-minded teams and we want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to pursue a career in the tech sector. We really enjoyed working with The Talent Foundry to find someone to take up a paid summer internship with us and look forward to continuing our relationship with the charity.

The intern who secured the position has done exceptionally well.  She recently launched a survey for us, and the insights have been incredible – I showed it to our investors LocalGlobe and they were impressed with the survey results in general, never mind it having been done by an 18-year-old with no experience.”
