Wales offers £3k to encourage more student teachers to work in FE
The Welsh government is offering student teachers grants of up to £3,000 for the 2012/13 academic year to encourage more people to work in FE colleges.
The maximum £3,000 grant will be payable to all new eligible students starting full-time, pre-employment, postgraduate FE ITT courses across all STEM-related subjects, as well as Welsh and Life Skills of Literacy and Numeracy.
A grant of £1,000 will be payable for all other subjects, according to Leighton Andrews,
Andrews said: “We are making PGCE (FE) ITT incentives available to target our highest recruitment priorities, including support for the teaching of literacy and numeracy, whilst recognising the importance placed on recruiting quality teachers across all subjects in the FE and skills sector.
