Barnsley College students take on the British Army

Barnsley College (@barnsleycollege) Public Services and Travel and Tourism students had the chance to learn about life, careers and opportunities in the British Army.

Students took part in a range of virtual-based activities that tested their problem solving and team-working skills. They also heard from representatives from the Army via a range of presentations discussing why money matters, how to build a base, how to develop Army confidence, CSI, why the sky is the limit and how to spot fake news.

Students were given an insight into the daily life of a British Army soldier as well as receiving expert career advice and guidance on job opportunities, interviews and requirements within the Army.

Chris Pearson, Public Services tutor, said:

“Many of our Public Services students are interested in joining the Armed Forces so this provided an opportunity for them to experience what is required. This was a great chance for students to find out about the range of careers in the Army and the public services sector. They’ve developed problem solving and communication skills, which will benefit them in College and employment.
